Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Works on the Subcontractors Performance Self-Insured Program developing an audit system for each subcontractor awarded a subcontract for which bonds were not required on FasTracks West Corridor project. Works with PSC DBE Project Manager to determine contractor eligibility, scoring and acceptance into the program. Verifies payments to vendors and prepares documents for Risk Management in evaluating claims. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL: Conducts self in an appropriate manner as our representative, working effectively in a diverse work environment. Researches information on bonding programs within the transit industry. Communicates with prime contractor on subcontractor(s) work schedules and monitors payments to subcontractor's vendors and workforce. Assists PSC contractors with reporting appropriate payments and tracking subcontractor work product to reduce potential claims against the Program Loss Fund. Verifies and validates completed assessments of subcontractors and prepares documents for acceptance into the Subcontractors Performance Self-Insured Program (SPSP). Collects all claim documents and submits claims to Risk Management for review. Works as a broker to determine the amount that each subcontractor would have paid for bonds had it been required to provide bonds. Conducts meetings with prime and subcontractors to present information on the program. Assists in developing a plan to continually update processes to implement the SPSP. Attends meetings with small business community organizations and associations. All other job-related duties as assigned. The application deadline is 8/13/2010.

Job Requirements
Current college student in good standing in one or more of the following fields: Business, Statistics, Economics, Industrial Relations, Sociology, or Computer Science. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce. Ability to interact positively and professionally with internal staff and external contacts. Ability to network with various agencies and officials and maintain professional relationships. Ability to use prudent judgment and problem solving skills to make reasonable decisions and recommendations. Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to use current research methodologies and procedures. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing, using proper spelling, grammar, punctuation with all levels of personnel. PC proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software as well as Internet, basic HTML, and email use. Ability to pay close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in work. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to efficiently manage time and workload, which includes planning, prioritizing, organizing, and following-through on a variety of tasks, assignments, projects, and reports. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
